Bio

This is my first year working at RPS, and I am so excited to become a part of this learning community! I am originally from Virginia, but my family and I have lived in Chattanooga for nearly five years. We love it! My husband Wes and I have two children, Olivia and Eliot.

I have my B.A. in English from the University of Virginia and my M.A. in School Counseling from Regent University. My work experience has been mostly in schools, as both a teacher and college counselor; and I was lucky enough to intern at RPS last year. Also, I have volunteered with all ages in my community and overseas.

I became a school counselor to help prevent and address barriers to student learning and growth. I believe that every person matters deeply; and that we all have many reasons to live, individual strengths and weaknesses, and the ability to choose how we live. Counseling is one way to help children understand their worth, identity, and purpose; and make choices that lead them toward healthier, more fulfilling lives. School counselors do this by encouraging and advocating for students, providing individual and group counseling, and teaching life skills through counseling and classroom guidance.
